Netflix now a $301.00 stock, inching closer to overtake Comcast and Disney in market value by year end

    Posted: 02 Mar 2018 01:47 PM PST

On January 22nd, Netflix cross $100 Billion market cap at a price of $250.00 also joining the "$100 Billion club" and becoming third largest media and entertainment company after Disney and Comcast who had market caps of $168 Billion and $200 Billion respectively, On March 2nd it finished at $301 even betting it 12 month price target of $300.00 with a market cap of $130 Billion. And if things keep going great even with corrections here and there could now finish the year as a $190-215 Billion market cap company overtaking both Disney and Comcast with market caps of $154 Billion and $169 Billion respectively amid mega merger frenzy and bidding wars going on with both companies. Netflix will become the largest media and entertainment company by end of 2018 and in it 21 year history only done one acquisition buying comic book publisher MillarWorld [worth $50 Million].

    Invest-EDU Mike Coval

    Posted: 02 Mar 2018 05:33 PM PST

Hey guys. I am taking a stock market investment seminar with Invest-EDU. (founder Mike Coval) obviously they are selling something, a class, and I was wondering if anyone has attended this seminar and/or taken the $8k classes. I have tried doing research on the company but haven't found very much, good or bad. If anyone can help me so i don't wast my money needlessly it would be greatly appreciated.

    New to investing

    Posted: 02 Mar 2018 03:42 PM PST

Hello! I have just opened an E*TRADE account and have no idea what I'm doing but I definitely want to learn. This might seem silly but I spend a lot of time trading on the transfer market in EA Sports Fifa because I have a lot of downtime at work. Recently I decided I should do something more productive and wanted to try trading real money in stocks. I obviously realize it's not the same at all but I am interested in learning how to trade to make a little bit of income. I put $100 into the account because I figured that would be enough to figure things out without having too much risk. Anyone have any tips or suggestions for someone just starting out?

$10 to buy and sell stocks?

    Posted: 02 Mar 2018 02:36 PM PST

I'm just beginning to start trading on the stock market and wondering if $10 is a lot per purchase and sell. It feels like it should be lower but I really don't know. Sorry for the noob question but thank you for your answers!

Swing trading: Where's the line between doing research and just getting lucky?

    Posted: 02 Mar 2018 08:48 AM PST

I'm new to the stock market and have been doing some reading over the last few weeks in order to learn more about it. I want to get into swing trading, but there are two main things that I've heard over and over again that seem to conflict with each other:

    • "Spend a lot of time doing research on a stock before trading it."
    • "You never know what the market is going to do -- it's really just a gamble."

So my question is, why do all this research if trading stocks is just a gamble anyway? I get that some stocks are obviously way better than others, especially bluechip stocks, but even those can fluctuate wildly from day to day and week to week it seems.

To me, it seems that you can really only do so much research on a stock before it starts to become counterproductive. since the market is unpredictable anyway. Might as well throw a dart at a wall of stocks to pick one, then do your best to buy low and sell high.

Maybe I'm missing something, so I'd love to hear any insight on this and what your strategies are for swing trading.

Do you think I should keep these stocks I have, or what would you recommend replacing with?

    Posted: 02 Mar 2018 12:47 PM PST

I followed my brother's investment plan, but he says that he just guesses and doesn't even have all the stocks I do.

These are the ones I am not sure if I would be better off getting other things instead.

Solar. Any strong buys out there?

    Posted: 02 Mar 2018 12:47 PM PST

First Solar seems popular, but it's near a 52 high. Any other companies with strong growth plans?

    AT&T media assets pre-Time Warner

    Posted: 02 Mar 2018 07:46 AM PST

So we all know AT&T pending acquisition of Time Warner is in a court battle with the US Justice Department however even without the owner of HBO, Warner Bros. Studios, and Turner Networks. Here are the content/media assets current owned -fully or partially- by AT&T:

    • AT&T Sport Nets [regional sport networks] with 13 million subscribers in 22 states

    • 40% stake in another rsn- Root Sports Northwest with 60% owned by Seattle League club

    • 42% of GSN (Game Show Network) with the remaining 58% owned by Sony Pictures [so a potential target and natural one if Time Warner deal does not happen]

    • 50% of Otter Media which owns Crunchyroll, VRV, Fullscreen (which owns Rooster Teeth), Gunpowder and Sky, Dust, and Hello Sunshine (with Reese Witherspoon) other 50% owned by Peter Chernin's Chernin Group [AT&T reportedly going to buyout the remaining stake for $1 Billion]

    • Audience Network (AT&T Audience or simply Audience) programming include Mr Mercedes, Kingdom among others

    • AT&T Originals TV studio (formerly DIRECTV Originals)

    • AT&T Hello Labs digital studio

    • 2% of Lions Gate [another target if Time Warner deal fail] which owns a Film and TV studio- franchises include Twilight, Hunger Games, Mad Men, OITNB- and Starz a competitor to HBO, Epix, Showtime.

Targets in merger fails are: Sony Pictures, Lions Gate and even AMC, Discovery, and Viacom (I see a hostile acquisition- AT&T buying a big stake like 20% in the open market even though the Redstones owns 80% of the votes with just 9% equity). AT&T have about $50 Billion in cash with them (not off shore like the Big Techs)
