Posted: 03 Mar 2018 04:23 PM PST I went to the ER by ambulance last year with a suspected heart attack. After many tests, it was declared pain of unknown origin and deemed not a heart attack. All of the various tests done while in the ER were sent to my insurance company as emergency procedures except the one from the man who signed off on my radiology scans. Somehow, his overseas billing company billed it to my insurance as non-emergency, so my insurance denied it. I called the radiologist's billing company monthly. First they said they would review it, then they said it was submitted correctly. Then they said they would get back to me, but instead they sent it to a collection agency. When I called the Dr. directly, his office manager said he billed it as it was ordered from the ER. All the other tests were also ordered from the ER and there were no problems with coding. Do I have any recourse, or do I need to just suck up and pay the bill. Since it was denied, the discount from my insurance does not apply either, so I will have to pay the entire amount. Total loss claim - hit by a DUI driver - pain and suffering claim? Posted: 03 Mar 2018 11:29 PM PST Hi, Quick background info: two weeks ago my car got rear-ended by a drunk driver, who got arrested on the scene (100% his fault). I filed a claim with my insurance, and the car was determined to be a total loss. I'm currently in the process of negotiating a settlement amount with my insurance company, and I expect it to reach an acceptable level within a few next days. Nobody was seriously injured. I got minor bruising (still visible) on my arm from the seat belt, and the minor arm pain went away after a few days. I did not have the arm checked out by a physician at any time. My question is - can I seek pain and suffering damages for emotional stress and inconvenience, even without medical bills? If so, how should I approach it? Since I have already filed a claim with my insurance (first-party claim) telling them I was not injured, should I tell them I would like to seek compensation for pain and suffering for this reason? Or should I file a separate, third-party claim, noting that they will be subrogated for the total loss by my insurance company? I have a feeling that if I don't pursue this I'm leaving money on the table. For the record: I live in Indiana, and that's where the accident has happened as well. [link] [comments] |
How do I go about getting dental insurance? Posted: 03 Mar 2018 09:55 PM PST I am new to this I am 21, and want to get insurance. I believe it would be best if I PPO dental insurance, correct me if I'm wrong, it the most cost effective. How do I go about getting dental insurance? Any info is helpful. Thanks [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Mar 2018 02:10 PM PST My grandmother totaled her 2012 Subaru Outback this morning in an accident that was entirely her fault. I'm just wondering how the process with insurance will go? Similar cars are going for around $15-16k around here (same year, trim, though they usually have higher mileage), so is that roughly what we will get back if we file a claim with our insurance? The car is entirely paid off, if that makes a difference [link] [comments] |

I totaled my car and now my rate is 70 % MORE! Is this normal? Posted: 03 Mar 2018 05:44 PM PST I recently totaled my car and now in my search for a replacement I am also checking insurance rates, so I ran a quote through progressive and they quoted me almost $1k for six months of coverage. This is up from $570 before the accident and for the same exact car, a 2014/2015 Mazda 3. Is there anything I can do to lower this at all? Could it be a mistake? [link] [comments] |
File with your insurance or theirs Posted: 03 Mar 2018 11:10 AM PST So yesterday I was driving in RI and got rear ended and it sent my car into the jersey barrier and is most likely totaled.. So is it better to file with my own car insurance or file against the person who cause me to crash? I've read some places that even if its not my fault, that my insurance company could still raise my monthly payment.. The other driver and I didn't exchanged any info because they for some reason pulled way far down the road and the trooper said it would be in the police report which I'm still waiting for it to show up online. thanks [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Mar 2018 07:18 AM PST Apologies if this is the wrong sub, but I applied to Progressive as a Claims Adjuster Trainee, and I believe the salary to be around $45k (job is in Atlanta). How long do you have to be employed to be a vetted Claims Adjustor (at which I believe the salary to then be around $49k)? I'm pulling numbers from glass door, so please redirect me if I am wrong. Edit: thank you all very much for the insight! [link] [comments] |

Buying life insurance - questions about depression Posted: 03 Mar 2018 06:17 AM PST I am 34 years old, and healthy. I'm using online tools (PolicyGenius) to shop for life insurance. There are questions about if I have ever taken medication for depression or anxiety, which obviously impact my quote quite a bit. Can someone explain to me what this means? I understand why they ask, and I will answer honestly on my application when I get that far (I was on medication/hospitalized when I was 17, and took an antidepressant for about a year, 2 years ago). So is depression considered a pre-existing condition? I guess what I'm asking is, if I give all of this information honestly and then say, 10 years from now I die because of depression, will the life insurance not have to pay out? (I'm aware there is a period where they wouldn't - usually the first 2 years, but what about after that?) This isn't why I'm buying it (I am recently self-employed so no longer have it through an employer) but I am now curious how this works. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Question about commercial auto insurance Posted: 03 Mar 2018 11:13 AM PST I was wondering if anyone could give me the roughest ballpark on what commercial auto insurance may be. I will eventually meet with an insurance agent, but right now I just want a brief estimate to start some preliminary planning. It would be a policy for Cleveland, Ohio. For a driver with no points/accidents on record. The vehicle would be something mid-class-ish (Camery, Fusion...). Brand new or close to it. Would be used to transport passengers. Driving around 6-8 hours a day, 5 days a week. I don't know if there are extra options for commercial auto insurance (like comprehensive, collision, etc). But for right now my main concern would just be liability for the passenger, and any other vehicle the insured car might get in an accident with. If someone could just give me the briefest idea of what range the price would, I would greatly appreciate it. Like would it be $1000 a month? More or less? Thank you in advance! [link] [comments] |
