Bloomberg: Broadcom Said to Plan $120 Billion Qualcomm Bid

    Posted: 04 Feb 2018 02:27 PM PST

So I'm pretty new to the stock market and I wonder what kind of effect this may have on either stocks. Probably pretty individually from company to company, but in general terms.

    a) Qualcomm stocks plummets as the company is bought up b) Qualcomm rises as stockholders are reimbursed at higher rates/stock priced higher c) Broadcomm stocks rises as they buy up a competitor d) Broadcomm stocks falls if Qualcomm declines the offer

Sorry if it's a stupid question..

Investment advice (for a stock market game in Econ class)

    Posted: 04 Feb 2018 07:10 AM PST

Hey guys, in my economics class we are about to start a stock market game where you get $100,000 to invest. I am thinking about buying some shares (say 50 to start) of Fiat Chrysler. Their shares aren't too expensive and they're showing a positive trend. Any thoughts?

    Interested in investing

    Posted: 03 Feb 2018 07:53 PM PST

Hey guys, just looking for some advice. I will be 18 in June and want to start investing. My current plan is to invest mostly in index funds and hold them for a long time. I was also planning on opening a roth ira eventually when i turn 18 (and a 401k once employed).

I have also heard about vanguards UGMA/UTMA accounts for those under 18. Is it a good idea to start one of those now? What happens to this account once i turn 18?

I am mostly just curious if there is anything else i should be doing besides investing in index/mutual funds for the long term and maxing out my roth contributions. And curious if it is a good idea to start one of these UGMA/UTMA accounts.

I made $1500 overnight on a practice account. Did I get lucky or is trading really this lucrative?

    Posted: 04 Feb 2018 04:10 AM PST

Using a practice account on the Trading 212 account I turned about $10000 usd into $11500 usd overnight. I assume that something is wrong here, like I got very lucky or something.

My "strategy" was to buy gold and silver and stuff and hold it for a few minutes until I could turn like a $100 profit. I obviously have no idea what I'm doing but it worked.
