Any SaaS monetisation strategy comparisons out there? Posted: 03 Feb 2018 05:33 PM PST We're launching the MVP for a SaaS webapp in April and we're trying to figure out the monetisation strategy, essentially what the plans should be and how to create the various tiers. I realise every app and market is different, but I'm wondering if there has been any compilations of research that compared the different strategies for dividing up services and features to create various payment plans. I've seen many posts from founders of SaaS that discuss their thought process for choice of plans, but none that compare a variety of options and discusses the pros and cons of each. As an example, our SaaS has a number of ways to break up the plans. It's an client server SaaS where we provide a webapp to help manage a particular aspect of ecommerce marketing. It also comes with client apps like a wordpress plugin, shopify plugin etc. So for us we could break our plans up by by features, the number of different domains the clients apps can run on, or the volume of interactions with the plugin (think volume of email sent). Different ways of structuring the plans have very different effects and I was hoping someone might have created breakdown of some of the different ways of thinking about this. If you know of any such write-ups I would very much appreciate if you shared it or your thoughts on it. [link] [comments] |
Ideal ways to validate ideas with potential customers Posted: 03 Feb 2018 11:37 PM PST I have a idea that I am currently research related to investing in the entertainment industry (think indieGogo, seed and spark, patreon etc). My main customers would be investors interested in the investing in entertainment projects but I don't know the best way to connect with investors to understand more of their investing process, how they make investment decisions etc. (ironic because my idea is focused on streamlining this sort of issue). Want to make it unique to the companies I mentioned above. Curious to know the best way to get feedback from customers without being annoying, cold calling etc. No one in my family or friends had the money to be investors so that is out of the question. I have been reading on Reddit about the Lean Startup but not sure if that is the right route. [link] [comments] |
[Day 1] Zero to MVP in 30 Days — Idea & Plan Posted: 03 Feb 2018 01:27 PM PST If you don't already know what this series is about, check out Day 0, where I outline what it's all about. What the platform tries to achieve
Later in the future...
Pitching my idea to my friend and co-founder Nicolas. I spoke with my friend Nicolas and I tried to explain my idea in the best possible way. He liked it, so, we decided to move forward. In my opinion, having another person onboard is really good. When you are starting doubting your self and your idea, they can help you and motivate you. Let's fu..... do this. Motivation - Backstory In the past I created 2 blogs with some success. Although my writing skills were very limited at the time. The 1st blog was about online flash games and the second and most recent one was about Cafe Racers (Motorcycles). In the 2nd blog I had some success, from the first month I had around 10K page views per month. Although, I wasn't really interested in that particular niche. I made my first $100 and the filling was amazing. In the 6 months I had the blog, I noticed that when you get a quality backilink from another blog the organic traffic got a small increase. The problem I found, was that is really hard to build backlinks. You have to first search on Google to find relevant blogs, then find their contact email and finally write a nice personal email to get their attention. From their perspective, they have to research your blog, read your articles in order to trust you. For example, in my case when someone asked me for a guest blog, I had to make sure that their posts were relevant to my niche, so they won't hurt my SEO. That's the thing I want to make better here. In addition, by building this community of website owners I have the opportunity to monetize it by providing:
Yesterday I sent some emails to other blog owners. I had only 1 respond and it was a positive one! I want to validate whether they are enough people interested in this community and try to provide value to them. That is why I am documenting the process here. So I can build a community early on and more importantly get feedback before spending hours and hours of developing the platform. Technology Stack Skip this section if you're not interested in technical details. Platform
Blog
Analytics
Finding customers I'll obviously have a blog that I document this whole process but may do a Product Hunt Ship in the future when the platform is ready. More on the marketing strategy tomorrow. Collecting emails will be a priority. I'll also reach out to people in places like Reddit, Quora and Medium, who might have interest in this platform. Finding a name Maybe this is the easiest task of all. You get the excitement of starting something new and you make it official by buying the domain name. Drum roll, please....... The name is BacklinkBros The platform is not live yet but you can visit the blog where I write these articles. Day 2 Tomorrow I'll try and generate the project, scaffold the data model and I will outline my marketing strategy. I'll also have to validate even further my idea. Please tell me what you think. One minor problem. Since I want my website to rank in Google's search engine I have to make sure that these articles are index my Google before I publish them here. So, I will postpone posting here for the next 10 days maybe. Until these articles are indexed. If reddit posts are indexed first, Google is going to penalise me for plagiarism. You can visit the blog, I will post them there and I will post here in 10 days approximately. Mods did not allow me to post any links here and I totally respect that. You can find the blog if you search, or PM me for more info. Thanks, everyone! Follow me for the next days. ← Day 0. [link] [comments] |
Switching from Amazon SES to SendGrid - do I have to delete all Amazon SES DNS records? Posted: 03 Feb 2018 07:03 AM PST Hi. I am using Amazon SES now and have setup DNS records for CNAME and TXT to get my domain to work with Amazon SES. Now I want to switch to SendGrid. If you use SendGrid's whitelabel functionality, all you need to do is setup CNAME records for SendGrid. It would be nice for me to keep my Amazon SES DNS records when I switch to SendGrid because in an emergency, if I ever have problems with SendGrid, I can quickly switch back to Amazon SES if all my DNS records are already setup for Amazon SES. My question is, when I switch to SendGrid, can I keep my Amazon SES DNS records (the CNAME and TXT records I setup for Amazon SES). Would deliverability be affected when I switch to SendGrid and I keep my Amazon SES DNS records? Or am I required to delete my Amazon SES DNS records because it would hurt deliverability to keep them when I switch to SendGrid? [link] [comments] |
What do I NEED to know before starting a News Website/Media Group? Anything to be aware off? TY Posted: 03 Feb 2018 05:17 PM PST Hi, At the moment I'm starting a news/media website. What are the things I have to look out for? Things I have at the moment: *The domain name and website up and running(brand new). Do I have to trademark the name? Is it something I need to rush this early in the game? *Target demographic I found a very specific demographic that doesn't have any sort of news/media coverage for their particular beliefs. (The people are very conservative and I want my news to be more liberal/center business based.) *Monetization I'm getting ready to cold call as many people as I need to get this up and running. Obviously when I have a semi-finished product. Thank you so much for your help. [link] [comments] |
Should religion be part of our company? Posted: 03 Feb 2018 07:06 PM PST A few months ago we went through what is called a "faith based accelerator". It's funded by one of the mega churches and it had the most generous offer in terms of funding and support. What came along with that was attending weekly bible lessons that tried to relate Jesus to being an entrepreneur. I am personally not super religious, more agnostic than anything but I went along with the class. [link] [comments] |
