Auto claim adjusters here? I need help with preparing for an interview Posted: 29 Jan 2018 02:39 AM PST Sorry, I don't really know if this would be the optimal forum for this question. However, I have a job interview for a trainee position (thank goodness) coming up on the 30th and I am looking up questions online to prepare. One place that I realize I would be totally stuck and clueless on is in talking to the auto shop and getting into arguments with them. Say, they don't agree on the hours estimate I give them to fix the car or they accuse me of cheating a customer. How am I suppose to handle this? How am I supposed to negotiate with them in general? I know it can be nasty as when I got my car totaled the auto shop I went to hated my adjuster and told me my car was fixable etc lol. [link] [comments] |
Are these low cost insurances scams? Posted: 28 Jan 2018 07:52 PM PST Veronica's Insurance advertises its as low as $15 per month for car insurance like crazy where I live and always wondered are these companies legit or some kind of scam? I tried looking up reviews and frankly its way better reviewed than the company I have insurance with [link] [comments] |
Can I cancel my California car insurance ENTIRELY after filing an Affidavit of Non-Use in 2018? Posted: 28 Jan 2018 08:52 PM PST I recently submitted an affidavit of non-use to the Ca DMV. From here, can I legally cancel all insurance for that vehicle? It is parked in my garage. I want to save as much money as possible while it is non-operational for the rest of the year. My Insurance provider is USAA and they won't give me a straight answer. Please Help ASAP. Thanks Reddit; you're the best [link] [comments] |
Cell phone insurance. Claim expired? Posted: 29 Jan 2018 12:34 AM PST Hello, i own a Samsung galaxy s7 In august of 2017, i noticed a slight buzzing noise coming from my phones charging port ( while the phone was charging ) i quickly unplugged it, but the damage was done! The charging port was completely burnt and completely un-useable, but my wireless charger still was able yo charge the phone. Anyways i immediatly called my insurance company ( which i pay like $7+/ a month for cellphone inurance. They told me they would cover it but i would have to pay a $200 deductable. Which i didnt have. I told them that i was going to contact samsung to swe if they would replace it for me for free. The insurance company assured me that that was a great idea. And to call back if/whenever i decided to go through with this claim. Anyways, samsung wouldnt do a damn thing. They told me i must have put the cable in wrong.. or got it wet... so i figured fuck it. Id just use my wireless charger for the timr being. Anyways, i now decided to call.my insurance to.get.my phone fixed because its quite annoying not being able to charge my phone fast or being able to plug.my phone into my laptop etc.. The insurance immedatly denied my request saying i had already made a claim in august ( which i did not) and that im already past the 60day claim period. shoildnt i have gotten a confirmation email or something if i had infact made a claim? Or wouldnt they have made me pay the $200 deductable. And also, they did not once specifiy that i would have a deadlinw of 60 days "if" i did go through with the claim.. They said 100% my phone is now.not insurable. To which i replied.. " why are you charging me.ohone insurance if its not insurable" i asked to atleast get october-januarys insurance fees reimbursed.. 4 months of phone insurance on an apparently uninsurable phone. It just seems so unreal that this company could screw me.over so badly. Ive paid for phone insurance for 5+ years having made 0 claims. Is there any legal action i can take? Couldnt all insurance companies just state " nope youve already made a claim which has expired" i just want them to prove that i made said claim? [link] [comments] |
In Texas, are you required to get auto/non-auto insurance if you have a DL but don't drive at all? Posted: 28 Jan 2018 04:54 PM PST To further clarify what I'm trying to say, the DL will just act as an ID card until I get my own car. [link] [comments] |
Release to in-house repair or adjuster visit shop? Posted: 28 Jan 2018 02:37 PM PST I was in an accident last week and had AAA tow my car to a local shop. I'm pretty sure I was not at fault, and my insurance's claims manager seemed to agree, but they also said it can take up to two weeks to get the police report. So for the time being I am dealing with my insurance and not the other party's.
My claims manager seemed to think that given the age of the car and description of the damage, it would probably be considered a total loss. Damage pic. There also seems to be internal damage since the engine light came on right after the accident. Since the shop I took it to does not do body work, she said she would give me the option of towing to a body shop and having an appraiser come out to see it OR towing to the insurance's in house repair shop for appraisal.

Recovery Taxes and General Question Posted: 28 Jan 2018 09:40 PM PST Car accident occurred in Nebraska. Purchased a new vehicle yesterday after my accident last week. Dealer said I may be able to recover the sales tax and registration fees from the at-fault party's insurance company. Does anyone know anything about this? Second, what's the general timeline of everything?
I went to get checked out at hospital. Everything "fine"
Am I playing a waiting game now? Should I be expecting something? Or what's the next step? Third, Also, should I be expecting them to just cover medpay and the property? Plus, a few hundred for these killer headaches and the neck pain? Not sure how much the disc thing is worth? Background: single grad student so no loss of consortium or wages or anything. Would like to work as an insurance adjuster, some q's Posted: 28 Jan 2018 02:30 PM PST 32 years old, just got married and my service job is not paying enough to cover my bills. I've been wanting to upgrade jobs and become an insurance adjuster in Colorado. Colorado does not require a license to be an adjuster, so I have completed the pre-licensing course for Property and Casualty Texas designated home state. I passed the exam (89.6%), got my fingerprints taken and sent all the necessary paperwork to the Texas Department of Insurance. When my paper application arrived there was a hefty backlog and I'm still about a month behind in line for my application to be processed. Does anybody have recommendations on things I can do while I wait for my license to come? The Kaplan University course has been reviewed ad infinitum, I was considering going to take the workers compensation portion so I could get my all lines designation but the $300 would be better spent once I know I am able to get a license, and perhaps my future employer would cover this expense for me. I'd like to start training with a company now but think I'd land a better job if I wait to put on my resume that I'm licenced to adjust claims already. Thanks for your help! OMA [link] [comments] |
do most auto policies offer 1-mil/1-mil option? (not umbrella) Posted: 28 Jan 2018 08:09 PM PST I recently moved 25 miles across the state line. I've had Geico for 15+ years. The maximum coverage that the offered was 500k/500k. Anything beyond that, I had to get their umbrella coverage.(which was totally separate from auto policy, of course) Now that I've move 25 miles to another state, I just noticed that my Geico online account showed the maximum coverage option as 1-mil/1-mil. Moving from my current 500k/500k to 1-mil/1-mil only increased my monthly premium by $23. I think it's a no-brainer to move to 1-mil/1-mil, or am I wrong? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Jan 2018 03:48 PM PST So I leased my first car under my name this past October. This meant that I needed to sign up for an insurance policy of my own. Luckily, I am friends with an insurance agent and he helped me pick the cheapest policy with Progressive. He enrolled me in the Snap Shot program to get the best price possible. I installed it on my phone but after a week I decided to pause it and uninstall the app because it was draining my battery and mainly because I didn't like the fact of being tracked down by an insurance company. So my question is, is the monthly quote I'm paying now discounted because I chose to enroll in the program, even when I am not using it? And will my quote be higher when it's time to renew because I did not participate correctly? I'm considering opting out of the Snap Shot program if the price of my quote remains the same as I'm paying now. But if it's going to higher my monthly bill, I might as well bite the bullet and turn the app on. [link] [comments] |
Condo flooded from above - What level of replacement/repair am I entitled to? Posted: 28 Jan 2018 06:57 PM PST Our brand new condo (we just moved in 4 months ago) got flooded by the unit above us. A subcontractor working in the unit hit a sprinkler pipe and dumped a couple hundred gallons of water into our unit. We had our insurance agent come out and look at the damage. He insisted that any of the drywall that got wet could be treated chemically to avoid any mold in the future. However, replacing everything wholesale would give me a better piece of mind. Am I within my rights to demand that they pay to replace all of the drywall that got wet? [link] [comments] |
My Father is an Uber driver, he was rear ended, I want to know your opinion on this isshe Posted: 28 Jan 2018 06:16 PM PST (I have posted on another subbreddit) (I want to be more detailed on this post) . After the crash ( the other party insurance) estimated the car repair to be about $8k, then they asked for the car to get a very clear estimation. They offered us $11.7k to repair the car. So those are the facts. At the time he wasn't driving a customer. I'm not a professional in estimating cars, but this car really looks totalled, my dad does not want it to be repaired because he believes the cost to repair it is very close to the cost of the car. I looked for the value of the car at Kelley blue books but they didn't have it. I ran it at car fax and it's estimated to be about $15.6k (pre-colision). We have an appointment tomorrow and I'm really grabbing straws here to understand what might happen and what we should be prepared for. Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you for your time (in advance)!! . Car Photo 1. Edit: Sorry for grammar errors/spelling mistakes [link] [comments] |
Something isn’t adding up (medical) Posted: 28 Jan 2018 07:37 AM PST So, I had a doctor visit. It shows 520, insurance paid 175, and I owe 107. Well at the visit itself I had paid 170.25. Does this mean I overpaid? Not sure what to do from here and if it means I owe 107 MORE then that all doesn't even add up to 520. [link] [comments] |
One policy, multiple cars, two states Posted: 28 Jan 2018 05:28 PM PST Parents are in state A, I am in state B for school. Recently purchased a new car in state B and intend to register it here. Are there any insurance companies that would cover the cars in state A and B? More specifically, cover just my car in state B, not A. Figured it'd be cheaper to keep me on theirs (with 4 drivers total) versus having to get my own. [link] [comments] |
Bodily Injury vs. Property Damage Posted: 28 Jan 2018 12:44 PM PST Last April my wife rear ended someone at a red light, maybe 5 mph? The police came and made their report, I forget now what it said exactly, but more or less, just that there was an accident and it wasn't anything major. Our insurance went up and in the claim it says that our insurance paid out $750 in bodily injury to the other party. I feel that this would cause our insurance to go up more than if it had been property damage. Can I ask for evidence that the other party was actually injured? I'm looking at changing insurance companies and one of the questions is "was there bodily damage in the accident". Do I now have to say "yes" because they paid that out under "bodily injury"? Multiple dental/vision plans question Posted: 28 Jan 2018 11:42 AM PST I recently switched to my husband's health insurance plan through his job. Because our open enrollment periods are different, my HR administrator kindly let me out of mine off cycle. However, I didn't realize until recently that his plan also includes vision/dental, which I am still paying for through my job. Assuming I am unable to get out of paying for the second plan for the next year, is it possible for me to take advantage of using both policies? For example, could I bill one vision plan for glasses and the other for contacts? Wasn't sure if this is allowed. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Old Insurance Requiring Proof of New Insurance to Cancel? Posted: 28 Jan 2018 09:40 AM PST Is this a thing? We migrated my spouse onto my insurance during open enrollment. He is now on my plan. But his old insurance (through his HR department) is saying that they can't cancel (and stop auto debiting his premiums from his paycheck) until we provide proof that he has different insurance. Meanwhile, he cancelled the last week in November, cancelling effective January 1 and they keep taking the premiums out of his paycheck. HR implies this is the law. They are also saying if we don't provide proof from my insurance company by the end of January that we can't recover the premiums they took despite the notice of cancellation. They told us about this deadline on Friday... State is Massachusetts if that's relevant. He's also a teacher, so maybe it's a government thing? [link] [comments] |
When do changes to a policy take effect? Posted: 28 Jan 2018 03:16 AM PST I recently called to have collision and comprehensive removed from my policy on January 27. My insurance is paid on the 16th of every month. Since insurance is paid in advance, is this change made immediately or does it take effect on the next monthly billing cycle? [link] [comments] |
